City Clerk Crystal Zamora

Crystal Zamora serves as the City Clerk for the City of Tolleson. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Clerks Department including official council proceedings, council packet preparation, records management, elections administration, city code codification and policy/procedure updates. The City Clerk serves as the professional link between the citizens, the local governing bodies and agencies of government at other levels. The functions of the Clerk necessitate a thorough knowledge of law procedure, administration and interpersonal relations. To keep up with the consistent transformation in local government, the Clerk participates in continuing education and seminars.

After completing an internship program with the City of Tolleson during her final semester in college, Crystal began her career as an Administration Assistant with the City in 2005 for the City Manager’s Office. However, her duties expanded out much further as she often provided support to the Engineer’s Office, Community Services Department, Economic Development Department, the City Clerk’s Office and the Youth Coordinator. Crystal was promoted to Deputy City Clerk in 2010 and began her current role as the City Clerk in 2015. Crystal is a proud native of Tolleson and knew she wanted to work for the City of Tolleson ever since her high school days. She is grateful to have the opportunity to serve the community she grew up in and adores, a community that believed in her and supported her since she was a young girl.

Crystal graduated from Arizona State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Public Administration and Political Science. She earned the Certified Municipal Clerk designation from Arizona State University, in addition to obtaining the State of Arizona Certified Election Officer designation.

Crystal is a member of the Arizona Municipal Clerks Association and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She completed extensive programs such as the AGTS Supervisor’s Academy and the Hispanic Leadership Institute. In 2017, she was awarded the City of Tolleson Diamond Award in appreciation of her commitment to excellence. With the mission of improving employees' health, well-being, morale and motivation, Crystal serves on the City’s Wellness Program Committee. She is also a committee member of the newly established Tolleson Women in Leadership (TWIL) in efforts to stimulate diversity, as well as endorse equality within the workplace.

Crystal is married to her husband, Art, and is the proud mother of their two daughters. In her spare time, she loves to do adventurous activities with her family and spend quality time with loved ones.
