Fire Chief Michael Young

Michael Young has been proudly serving the Tolleson community since 2020, when he was hired as a Battalion Chief. He was placed in the Interim Assistant Fire Chief position in June 2023 and appointed as Fire Chief in February 2024. With 25 years of experience in the Fire Service, Michael was a Captain-Paramedic and Incident Safety Officer with the Glendale Fire Department before joining the Tolleson Fire Department. He is pursuing a Bachelor's in Fire Science from Anna Maria College in Massachusetts and expects to graduate in Spring 2025.

Growing up, he attended Sunridge and Fowler Elementary Schools in West Phoenix and graduated from Saint Mary's High School in 1997. The City of Tolleson holds a special place in his heart; his family has been a part of the community since 1948 when his grandparents moved there. His mother is a proud alumna of Tolleson High School, class of 1962. Michael spent his summers in Tolleson with his grandmother and aunt, participating in the Founders Whoopee Daze Festival, summer camp at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and the Tolleson High School swimming pool.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Michael has been married for 23 years to his wife, Brianna, and is the proud father of three children and 1 grandson. He cherishes his family and the community that has supported them. Michael's love for the Tolleson Firefighters and the Tolleson community is profound, and he is dedicated to enhancing the safety and well-being of the department and community he deeply cares about.
