The Tolleson Initiative of the Arts (TIA): Unleashing Creativity in Our City
The City of Tolleson is thrilled to announce the Tolleson Initiative of the Arts (TIA), a pioneering venture in public art planning. Designed to weave art into the very fabric of the city, TIA aims to reflect the values, preferences, and community pride of Tolleson's residents.
Goals and Vision
The program's primary objective is to identify key opportunities for public art projects and initiatives, embracing and beautifying venues such as the new City of Tolleson Civic Center. It is the first step in outlining a robust and inclusive vision for public art in our city.
Community Input
The City of Tolleson has recently concluded a community survey where residents were invited to share their insights, ideas, and creativity. We'd like to thank everyone who contributed their thoughts, helping to shape the future of public art in Tolleson. Your input ensures that our city's art truly represents what matters most to our community.
Exciting Initiatives
Several projects are already underway, including:
- Murals: The newly added murals at the civic center showcase the vibrant artistic soul of our community.
- Utility Box Art Wrap: Starting 2023, this initiative aims to beautify the city's utility boxes with captivating art. Our inaugural wrapped utility box features the breathtaking artwork of Yulianna Arreola from the Tolleson Teen Council, the winner of the City of Tolleson's Utility Box Artwork Contest. Her stunning hand-drawn design, accompanied by the phrase "Embrace the unknown. Explore new beginnings," encourages all of us to venture beyond the familiar, take risks, and celebrate growth and new experiences. This piece, now displayed on a utility box in the heart of the city, is a tribute to our community's dreams and aspirations.
- 3rd Fridays: Mark your calendars for a series of concerts at the P.L.A.C.E., the new Paseo de Luces Arts Center for Entertainment. Located at 9257 W. Van Buren St., where the City's water feature used to be, these concerts will run on Fridays from 6-9:30 PM on September 20, October 18, November 15, January 17, February 21, March 21. Performers are to be determined.
Discover the Tolleson Initiative of the Arts (TIA) and embrace the mesmerizing world of art in our extraordinary city.
