Employee Resources Director Wendy Jackson
As the Employee Resources Director for the City of Tolleson, Wendy Jackson is challenged with meeting the employee headcount and retention demands for 11 different divisions within the city. She brings 20 years of proven experience in organizational development and labor relations.
Wendy was previously employed by Marriott International. She held human resource positions, including her last position as Lead Director of Human Resources serving Connecticut, Springfield, Massachusetts and Albany, New York, overseeing human resources initiatives for seven hotels. In this capacity, she formulated policy, directed and coordinated recruitment, retention, compensation and employee relations activities for the hotel.
Wendy was awarded Manager of the Quarter in 2002 and 2003. She received the Marriott International Northeast Region Diversity Leadership Award in 2004 and was elected Co-Chair of the Marriot Northeast Region Diversity Council. Further, she designed and coordinated Marriott’s Northeast Region Women’s Leadership Conference in 2004 and revitalized Marriott’s Northeast Region Diversity Council’s Mentoring Program for Managers.
Wendy maintains affiliations with several organizations, including Arizona Human Resource Directors Association, Society for Human Resources Management, and the Arizona chapter of the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) where she is the chapter president.
While serving as an Executive Committee Member for the Middlesex County NAACP of Connecticut, she was instrumental in various community outreach programs. Such programs included voter registration drives, fund raising events and human rights advocacy.
Wendy earned a Master of Science in Labor Relations from the University of New Haven, and a Bachelor of Professional Services from the Audrey Cohen School for Human Services and Education at the Metropolitan College of New York. She holds a Certificate of Labor Relations specializing in Contract Administration from Cornell University and Certified Professional designation from IPMA-HR.
